Pro Tips

Common Mistakes When Generating Bulk Labels

Bulk label generation is powerful, but a small error in your CSV can mean hundreds of wrong labels. Here are the most common issues FBA sellers encounter and how to avoid them before you print a single sheet.

01
Wrong barcode format per product type

FNSKUs use Code-128; EAN-13 needs exactly 13 digits; UPC-A needs 12. Mixing formats without specifying the type column causes incorrect outputs. Always specify the type per row.

02
Leading zeros stripped by Excel

Excel auto-formats numeric columns, removing leading zeros from EAN-13 and UPC codes. Always format barcode columns as Text (not Number) in Excel before exporting to CSV. A 13-digit EAN that becomes 12 digits will fail validation.

03
Not test-scanning before bulk print

Always generate a small test batch of 5–10 labels and scan every one before committing to a 500-label print run. A misconfigured printer or wrong scale setting can ruin an entire batch. See our print quality guide for the correct settings.

04
Using quantity as a label count shortcut

The qty field tells the engine how many copies of each barcode to print — it doesn't change the barcode content. Don't use it to encode quantity information; that belongs in the 2D Box Content Label, not the FNSKU label.

Batch CSV Labels — Common Questions

The batch generator accepts a standard CSV file with three columns: barcode (the FNSKU, UPC, or EAN value), type (CODE128, EAN13, UPC, or QR), and qty (the number of label copies to print, from 1 to 999). Save your file as UTF-8 CSV. If using Excel, format the barcode column as Text to prevent leading-zero stripping.

No. The file is parsed in your browser and the PDF is generated on your device — your product data never leaves your computer.

Excel auto-formats barcode columns as numbers and strips leading zeros from EAN-13 and UPC codes. Format the column as Text (or re-export from your inventory tool) — a 12-digit EAN that lost its zero will fail validation.

The qty column accepts up to 999 copies per row, and files with thousands of rows work fine — a 5,000-label CSV generates in seconds in a modern desktop browser.
